01 — Basics

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as your login state — so you don’t have to re-enter details on every page.

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or access other files on your device. They are simply key-value data stored by your browser under the site’s domain.

There are several types of cookies: session cookies (deleted when you close the browser), persistent cookies (stored until they expire or you delete them), first-party cookies (set by Mentu), and third-party cookies (set by services we embed).

02 — Our Cookies

Cookies we use

✅ We use no advertising cookies. No cookie data is sold or shared with ad networks.

03 — Control

How to manage cookies

You have full control over cookies through your browser settings. Here is how to manage them in the most common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.

Please note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in and will significantly impact how the platform works. Analytics cookies can be disabled without affecting your experience.

You can also clear all existing cookies from your browser at any time. This will sign you out of Mentu and reset your stored preferences.

04 — Third Parties

Third-party cookies

Some pages on Mentu embed content from third-party services. These services may set their own cookies governed by their own privacy policies:

  • YouTube embeds: when a class recording is published and embedded via the YouTube API, YouTube may set cookies including VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE and YSC to track views and recommend content. These cookies are set by YouTube (Google) and are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. Embedded videos are only shown when a teacher has connected their YouTube account.
  • Paystack (payment): during the payment checkout flow, Paystack may set session cookies necessary for the secure completion of your transaction. These are temporary and governed by Paystack’s Privacy Policy.

We select our third-party integrations carefully and do not embed services that set advertising or tracking cookies unrelated to their core function.

05 — Updates

Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as we add new features or change our third-party integrations. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
  • Notify registered users by email for any significant changes to the types of cookies we use.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. For questions about our use of cookies, contact us at privacy@mentu.ng.
